Virtual Meeting Facilitation

Virtual Meeting Facilitation

What is a meeting facilitation?

Facilitation is a process in which a facilitator, who is an impartial person without any specialized knowledge, helps a group of people to achieve a specific goal in a meeting. A facilitator can lead a group process during standard meetings, workshops, brainstorming sessions or any other type of group work.

A facilitator’s scope of duties includes:

Supporting a group at the stage of a problem recognition, problem statement and goal definition

image

Helping to choose the right techniques/tools needed to achieve the desired goals

image

Ensuring everyone’s potential is fully maximised

image

Making the decision-making process more efficient

Improving the quality and transparency of decision-making & plans agreed.

A facilitator doesn’t need to have any specialized knowledge related to the subject of the meeting they’re part of. In most cases, they actually should not. Thanks to this they are capable to offer support from a completely unbiased, external perspective.

Our facilitators are specialized in working with distributed teams, are aware of the characteristics of virtual meetings and their limitations when it comes to communication or tools. Thanks to this, they are able to lead the process effectively for groups of individuals working remotely.

When can a facilitator help?

image

When meeting participants feel like their meetings are a waste of time.

image

When it often happens that a meeting ends, and the participants are not quite sure what were the actual conclusions or action items.

image

When meeting goals tend to be unclear or vague.

image

When there are clear differences in the extent to which different individuals participate in the meetings.

image

When the meeting participants feel frustrated yet are not quite sure why.

All of the above can be used for both one-time meetings as well as recurring, regular meetings.
